AÉNOR TO BE LAURELED
11 January 2003

We are pleased to announce that Lady Aénor d'Anjou was laureled at Kingdom Twelfth Night in Charlotte on 11 January, 2003.  House Bayard assisted with the reception.  We hope you'll join us in honoring our friend on this great occasion!

NEW WEB HOST
23 November 2002

House Bayard's web site has relocated from Geocities to VerseHost.  With 100 MB of storage, and 4GB of monthly transfer, we now have the ability to keep a lot more photos and other resources on our site, and best of all, the page will never be taken offline when we get a lot of hits to the site in a short space of time.  And no banner ads (yay!).

HELL FREEZES OVER
(a brief report from Celtic Cattle Raids)

20-22 September 2002

Due undoubtedly to  some kind of wacky planetary alignment, every member of House Bayard was present at the same event - Celtic Cattle Raids in the Canton of Nimenefeld in Apex, NC.  At some later date I may get around to writing this up in more detail, but for now....
Alaric and Martyn fought in the battles.  Xav ran the thrown weapons tourney, helped cook, and supervised cleanup after the feast, and acted in the Commedia skit.  Dunstan ran the Bardic Circle, and  Andela ran her baked goods stand.  Rohan was able to join us for most of the day, and Valdemar was able to get back to the event from a gig in Raleigh in time to enjoy the  amazing feast by Generys and Girard.
In court, Dunstan and Derdriu were inducted into the Order of the Kittyhawk, and Valdemar received a Baronial Award of Excellence.

WEB PAGE FINALLY UPDATED
28 September 2002

After over six months, I've finally gotten around to updating our web site and turning it into the resource that I'd originally intended it to be - the Members Pages in particular.  Unless otherwise noted, the chronicler is Ursula von Bremen.
Every section has been overhauled except the Journals page, so check  out the site and let me know what you think.  Some folks still owe me updates, by the way.  (Poke, poke.)...
By the end of Fall 2002, we'll be moving the site to a paid provider, meaning more disk storage, no banners, and less downtime.

IN REMEMBRANCE OF MASTER ALDWIN
13 September 2002

On Friday, 13 September, seventeen people gathered at Daryl's Restaurant in Raleigh to raise a glass in honor of our friend Master Aldwin Longwalker, who is sorely missed by us all.

HOUSE BAYARD BADGE GOES TO LAUREL
August 2002

We've been informed that our badge went to Laurel on the August letter, and we're expecting it to be registered sometime in January 2003.

ICELANDIC HOUSE OF PENNSIC II

August 2002

House Seawolf and House Bayard established a new Pennsic legend when they launched the Icelandic House of Pennsic (AKA the IHOP) last year at Pennsic XXX.
The IHOP returned this year, and once again, between 12 and 2 AM for three non-consecutive nights, while other camps were serving booze, we were serving eggs, pancakes and hashbrowns.  Rohan was the chief instigator of this fantastic idea.

ELENA ROSE NEALSON
HAS ARRIVED

4 April 2002

Barely a year after they tied the knot, Dunstan and Tangwystl welcomed Eleyna Rose into the world.  She is doing her duty as a newborn to ensure that they are virtually sleep free!  And she's already picking up some bad habits!

ASHEVILLE RENFAIRE 2002
4-5 May 2002

I could write a small book about our involvement in the 2002 Mountain Renaissance Adventure Faire, I re-designed and maintained their web page.  Dunstan, Xav, Valdemar and I came up with the storyline, and Dunstan and I wrote the script.
Valdemar upgraded the castle wall from 12' wide x 12' high x 4' deep to 20'wide x 12' high x 8' deep (not counting the new crenellations).  He also designed and did much of the building of the new ticket booths.  We received lots of assembly help from the renfaire folk.
Valdemar, Xav, Faelan and I learned a bit of stage combat, choreographed our own fights, and performed in the Chess Battle.  Valdemar, Martyn, and Alaric fought in the Champions Battle along with Gaston, Sir Aelfred of Cres.
Xavier ran the Groggy Griffin Inn with Genrys, Girard, Britney, Andela, and Faelan.  Valdemar built and ran Castle Siege (a mini crossbow and catapault game), and Ursula ran Days of Yore Fantasy Portraits with Lucy, Kateryn Rous, and Nona Powers.  Efenwealt, Aénor and Aiden were there with Angevin Treasures, and Maeve and Thor-Thor were there with Thor-Thor's Hammer.
Plus the faire snagged us free hotel rooms for the entire crew.  Everyone assures us that they had a great time, and we're already neck deep in the 2003 season.  Kind of explains what's been taking so long with our page updates, doesn't it?
